Sharp’s 5″ SH530U Android smartphone to launch in Q3 in China and Taiwan


SHARP is looking to “steal” a piece of the mobile smartphone pie from current top OEM’s with its upcoming 5-inch SH530U dual-SIM Android smartphone.

SHARP SH530U went to Bluetooth SIG certification and according document the phone will feature its own 5″ WVGA Retina display with 800×480 pixels resolution and 260K colours. Its body size will measure around 9.9mm in thickness, weighing at 176.5 grams. The huge phone will also sport a dual-core MTK MT6577 Cortex A9 CPU clocked at 1GHz, 4GB built-in storage, 512MB  of RAM, dual cameras, a 5MP on its back and a 1.3MP in the front.

SH530U runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and it should launch in the third quarter of 2012 simultaneously in China and Taiwan at a suggested retail price under CNY 2,000 (under $320 USD).
