I bet many of you are sick of those patent battles between OEMs (especially the Apple-Samsung one). So am I. And you’re probably going to get ill when you hear that Nokia accused Google and ASUS that their tablet, the Google Nexus 7, infringes on some of their Wi-Fi patents. It’s believed that the patents have to do with the IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi standard.
A Nokia spokesman stated that they have more than 40 licensees under their patent portfolio, in which most of the phone makers are included. ASUS and Google do not appear on the list however. The spokesman said the companies who don’t have licenses yet should simply approach them and sign up for one.
According to me, this is a move from a desperate company to get back to the top. All they want is attention, but they ask for it in a wrong place.
