Pantech launches 5-inch Vega S5 smartphone in South Korea

Pantech is relatively new in the business and although Samsung is the top OEM in Korea, LG second, while Pantech is in third position according to recent domestic statistics and it is also hard at work to deliver quality handsets.

Today the company launched a new product dubbed Vega S5, which is seen as the next generation Vega Nr. 5 and a potential competitor to the Samsung GALXAY S3 or LG Optimus 4X HD.

Pantech Vega S5 is a 5″ Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone with a 1.5GHz dual-core MSM8960 S4 processor, IPS HD display with 1280 x 800p resolution and 13MP rear-facing camera. Vega S5 has a specially designed bezel which is narrower to make it look more like regular smartphone and not a huge hybrid as the GALAXY Note or Optimus VU look like.

The phone is expected to launch sometime this month in Korea via SK Telecom network operator at an undisclosed price.
