Panasonic have announced the Toughpad for the Asia market as they look to attract sales of the device. The 10.1-inch A1 model has a US$1,599 price and is mainly targeted at companies that require rugged computing. The tablet runs Android 4.0 and has a 1.2 Ghz Marvell processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB flash memory and a microSD card as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, with a choice of 3G or LTE.The device is dust, shock and water resistant. It is able to withstand falls from about 1.2m and can operate in conditions of -10 and 50 degrees Celsius. The company is looking to get Windows RT as well on the tablet in future versions. The device will be released in 2013.
