ARM adds Mali 450 to its already impressive GPU lineup

ARM have announced the Mali 450 GPU to succeed Mali 400 and offers twice the performance with the ability to be scaled up to 8 cores. The Mali 450 which is offered as synthesizable RTL, is basically intended for use in entry level and mid-range devices. Steve Steele, senior product manager in the media processing division, reiterated that the Mali 450 was not just a new GPU with a doubled multi-core scalability but that they had made significant improvements in the internal graphics engine. The core, named Tyr, has been a regular performer for the Mali-400 and offers OpenGL ES 2.0 performance.
