Optimus LTE II Worlds first 2GB RAM phone debuts in Korea



The worlds first smartphone to sport 2GB of RAM has been released this morning in South Korea by LG Mobile. Customers in Korea can get it startung this week.

LG Optimus LTE II besides its 2GB of RAM has a 4.7-inch True HD IPS display at 550 nits brightness and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The phone processor is a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960, equipped with NFC technology enabled, 16GB of built-in memory storage, 8MP camera on the back and a 2,150 mAh battery.

“The Optimus LTE II is the most powerful smartphone technology currently available in Korea,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

“With a faster LTE network, the barrier for downloading and running very large applications is no longer a significant one for many customers, which is why LG saw a need for more RAM on high-end smartphones.”


Optimus LTE II runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS with the latest LG Optimus UI 3.0 on top of it. The handset is availavle from all three major Korean network operators. Availability in markets outside of Korea will be announced at a future date.
