Sony Mobile is pretty busy this week after announcing two handsets in Japan the Xperia GX and Xperia SX, today in Taiwan the Japan-based company has announced Sony Xperia ION (LT28i). A handset expected to launch all over the world, in Europe and North America especially.
Sony Xperia ION features an extra-large 4.6-inch 720p HD screen, it is equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM and runs Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread (that’s a minus, likely an upgrade to ICS will follow shortly after its release).
Additionally Xperia LT28i has 16GB of ROM (on-board memory storage) expandable for up to 32GB via a microSD card slot, 12MP rear-facing camera, NFC enabled, and 1,900 mAh battery capacity.
Pre-orders for this handset starts in Taiwan on May 15th until May 24th, while its release (delivery) date is set for the end of June at the price tag of 19,900 Taiwanese dollars (about USD $680). Xperia ION will be accompanied by a range of accesories like the Smart Tags, a docking station or Sony MN2 Bluetooth SmartWatch which is scratch-resistant and waterproof, available in five different colors blue, white, gray, green and pink priced at $3980 TWD (around USD $135).
