Intel-powered Orange Santa Clara arriving soon

Intel have finally made a real push into the smartphone market with the announcement made in partnership with LAVA back in February for XOLO X900 and Santa Claraboth sporting high-end specs.

Santa Clara is now officially getting close to its European release as the registration page goes online. However, the Santa Clara is only a codename. As is the Orange (the network provider) custom, the phone will be named after a city or a region.

The Santa Clara will initially run the Android 2.3 Gingerbread (Haven’t mentioned that OS in a while, phew) and will soon after be upgraded to the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 OS. The device also has a 8MP camera and the Intel 1.6 GHz Atom Z2460 processor in its belly. With a 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB on-board storage the phone will certainly be up there with the big guys. The only request we and I am sure many others will make is that this phone be sold on a number of different carriers and not just on Orange.
