Toshiba announce quad-core Excite 7.7, 10 and 13 inch tablets, Thrive tablets to be discontinued

After Thrive tablet’s short battery life, Toshiba have finally decided to discontinue the Thrive series and have launched a new Excite series with 3 different screen sizes. The Excite tablets come in 7.7-inch, 10-inch and 13-inch (Yes thats HUGE!) screen size variants.
All three tablets will pack a Tegra 3 SoC and Ice Cream Sandwich. The 7.7-inch sports an AMOLED display just like the prototype seen at CES 2012. The 13-incher steps up to 1600 x 900 resolution (as opposed to 1280 x 800 on other 2). Thrive’s full-sized SD slot, that feature carries over to the Excite 10 and 13 but the 7-inch is too thin to fit in these slots.

The 13-inch tablet (Thats as big as my laptop!) has a Gorilla Glass display and is powered by an ARM. Although an iPad 2 will cover all your needs it just wont be as much fun as a 13-inch tablet. The 13-incher goes on sale for $650 with a 32GB memory on June 10th.

In addition, the Excite 13 will be available with 64GB of storage for $750. The Excite 7.7 is also coming June 10th, at which point it’ll cost $500 for the 16GB flavor and $580 for the 32GB configuration. The 10-inch will beat them both to market, arriving May 6th starting at $500 for 16GB of built-in storage.
