News from Korea suggests that LG are planning to release a high-end smartphone in the US via Verizon Wireless, to rival the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone. The device will sport a 4.7″ HD (1280 x 720p) display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, Adreno 225 GPU and runs Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. This might seem strange considering LG already have the Optimus 4X HD with a Tegra 3 processor but keep in mind LTE is currently only for the US. It needs a global competitor and that is exactly how Samsung have made their bucks through domestic and international revenue.
It looks set for the Verizon lineup as the device was originally named “D1L” but GLBenchamarks reveal that the device will be called “D1LV” where V indicates the device joining ‘V’erizon.
Korean sources slate a May release but benchmarks like those will make sure to provide no hitches.
