Finally its official, Samsung broke the news minutes ago, the upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system for the GALAXY S II is now rolling in Europe and in Asia (South Korea).
Today the new software update is available in European countries including Poland, Hungary and Sweden, as well as Korea in Asia and gradually from there will roll out to other markets too.
“We’re thrilled to announce that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be served to GALAXY S II users in the European countries including Poland, Hungary and Sweden, as well as Korea today, and gradually roll out to other markets.”
A firmware upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS OS will follow soon for the GALAXY Note, GALAXY S II Lte, GALAXY Tab 8.9 and GTab 10.1.
In addition, Samsung also offers Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware upgrades for GALAXY S, GALAXY Tab 7″, GALAXY S Plus, GALAXY S SCL (Super Clear LCD) and GALAXY W starting with the end of March. The upgrade for GALAXY S, for example, includes Face Unlock, Snapshot, Photo Editor, and other interesting features (value pack).
To update your device make sure you have Samsung KIES software installed on your laptop/PC update it to the latest version which is 2.0, then plugin your smartphone into the USB cable and check for the latest firmware upgrade.
The availability and scheduling of the software update for specific models upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich may vary by market and wireless carriers’ requirements.
