Orange announces Santa Clara Android smartphone powered by Intel technology


To celebrate its 10-year portfolio of own-branded devices Orange announces that it is the exclusive operator to deliver the first Android smartphone powered by Intel technology in Europe.

Orange Santa Clara is the first smartphone to run on Intel Atom processor which will be offered exclusively to Orange customers in the United Kingdom and in France.

Santa Clara measures in at 10mm and it weighs only 117 grams features a 4-inch TFT LCS touchscreen with WSVGA (1024x600p) resolution display. The phone is powered by Intel Atom Z2460 CPU clocked at 1.6GHz, comes with 16GB of internal memory storage and a miroSD slot, HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, micro USB 2.0 and dual cameras (an 8MP camera on the back and a 1.3MP in front).

Additionally the phone will run on Android (version is unknown but from the looks of the render above its likely that is 2.1 Eclair) but we know it will come with an Orange customized UI on top of the OS. No pricing details.
