Guess who else showed up during Milan’s Fashion Week — Acer’s Iconia Tab A700 and A510 (in that order from left to right).
Seems like Acer is at hand in Italy this week showing off all of its latest innovations, the full line-up is ready to debut next week at Mobile World Congress and when we say the full line-up we are talking about Acer CloudMobile and Liquid Glow smartphones plus both Iconia Tab’s the A510 and A700 (back cover view – same order from left to right below).
Getting back to these two beautifully designed slates, the successor of Iconia Tab A500, A510 has a 10.1-inch touch screen with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, while under the hood we find Nvidia’s Quad-core Tegra 3 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM and dedicated microSD card slot for up to extra 32GB memory storage.
A510 comes with a frameless display followed by metal insertions on all four sides making it more elegant and appealing to the naked eye. On the back cover we find the Olympics logo, recognition of the ongoing relationship between the Taiwanese vendor and IOC (International Olympic Committee). In addition A510 has microHDMI and microUSB ports, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and GPS connectivity, a 5MP camera behind and a camera with HD resolution in front.
Because both slates are quite similar in looks and sizes, to differentiate one from the other Acer equipped A700 with a Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution display, an 8MP camera on the back and the ability to extend its memory storage for up to 64GB via a microSD card slot.
Both tablets will run the same Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS version 4.0 by Google with a specially customized UI which includes the famous Acer Ring found today on the Iconia Tab A200.
In terms of availability both tablets due to arrive sometime next month in Europe (Italy, France, probably UK and Germany as well). The costs are similar in all European countries despite that only France has announced a price for each device: A510 will cost 399 Euro, while Iconia Tab A700 will cost around 549 Euro.
