Xperia ION name pops up in recent trademark filing with the USPTO

To add even more confusion to what Sony Ericsson is preparing for CES 2012, according to a recent trademark filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, reveals a new XPERIA series name — XPERIA ION.

According to Fusible, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB filed the trademark “Xperia Ion” on December 13, 2011 to USPTO a month before CES 2012 suggesting that this could be the marketing name for the next XPERIA device launching in United States.

We are not certain at this time which device this is, but we can tell you that it is possible to be one of the three devices talked about in the last couple of months: Nozomi (Arc HD or Xperia Cloud), Nypon and the latest LT28at bound to AT&T network leaked from Bluetooth certification website a week ago.

I guess Sony Ericsson didn’t send those press invites to CES 2012, January 9th held in Las Vegas for nothing, we will just have to patiently wait and see what the Japanese handset manufacturer has in stored for us early next year.
