Archos G9 running Ice Cream Sandwich Preview

The French consumer electronics company, Archos is working to bring Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the OMAP4 based ArchosG9 tablets.

While the work is in progress they were kind enough to show us a quick preview of the ICS OS running on a G9 tablet.  They still have to finish the hardware acceleration for video support as it is not fully supported yet, Samba/Upnp, 3G stick support and all the other specific features that Archos provides on top of Android operating system.

Archos plans to finish and release the firmware upgrade by the end of the first quarter of 2012, any owner of these tablets expect an update somewhere in February that if all goes according to plans.

Curiosity: The name Archos is ananagram of Crohas’ last name, and it is also Greek for ‘master’ (αρχος).
