Recently we’ve learned about four new Sony Ericsson devices two of which are high-end devices also known to the public under the codenames Nozomi or Arc HD (LT26i) and Aoba (LT28i), while a new Android devices surface from SE Nypon (LT22i).
Sony Ericsson Nypon a smartphone which we know so little about, apparently it might boast ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 chipset that everyone is talking about. The looks of Nypon is almost similar to Nozomi with significant differences on the inside (in its hardware specs).
Nypon features a qHD display with 540×960 pixels resolution powered by the dual-core ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 system-on-chip (SoC). This might become the first smartphone from the Xperia series without a Qualcomm chipset. NovaThor U8500 chipset is capable of running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich because it takes advantage of a dual-core 1GHz Cortex A9 processor and ARM Mali-400 MP1 GPU. Features include 1080p HD progressive scan video recording, support for 20MP camera sensors (this I definitely gotta see) as well as built-in USB 2.0 and HDMI-out capabilities.
Coincidentally or not today STEricsson published 3 video clips of Android 4.0 ICS OS running on the NovaThor U8500.
