Now that the source code of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is available, Cyanogen team announced on Twitter that they are starting work on CyanogenMod 9 (CM9) project.
You will probably wondering why not CM8, well because that version was reserved for Android 3.0 Honeycomb, a version which Google doesn’t plan to make the source code available and everyone probably knows why (the OS is pretty unstable and not many app developers interested developing apps for it).
We’re still going to get CM7.2 out the door while CM9 is being worked on.
With the Holiday season coming soon we except the development to be very slow from anyone but we make a first approximation and say that we might see a first release somewhere at the end of January 2012. For those that are impatient to get their hands on an Android device with ICS OS there’s always Samsung GALAXY Nexus which will launch in a few days.
