Rovio, makers of the world-hit Angry Birds game has added more to its inventory which already includes a movie in the works, cook books and a plethora of other merchandise soon to be available featuring your favorite agitated birds, it has now also planned to open up its own Angry Birds stores with the first being in China.
China will be the first country on the list to get official Angry Birds stores and this is to combat the apparent problem of unlicensed merchandise that seems to be running around over there. According to Rovio, there is a lot of it.
“There’s a lot of Angry Birds products in China and most of them are not officially licensed. We want to sell officially licensed and good quality products, but at the same time we have to be happy that the brand is so loved. That’s why we’re building our first store here in China. Hopefully we’ll have quite a few in the next 12 months.”
