According to an unofficial source coming right from Europe, Poland both Acer Iconia tablets, the 7′-inch A100 and the 10.1-inch A500 set to enjoy an Ice Cream Sandwich firmware upgrade in early 2012 (first quarter).
In a chat discussion on acer.custhelp.com, Ronald Goolsby asked one of the employes from Acer customer support if Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be available for his A500 tablet, in reply to his question, Acer employe said “currently the update is unavailable,” and that the firmware upgrade will be available soon for all Acer tablets.
The end of their discussion is a little fuzzy because the employe from Acer customer support says “the update will be available over the air according to the serial number of the computer” (we belive he ment “tablet pc”).
To make the story short all Acer tablets will enjoy an Android 4.0 ICS OS treatment in the near future (likely in the first quarter of 2012). All proud owners of such a device should expect a firmware upgrade over the air (OTA) in the next few months.
