Sunday Editorial: Why Android Makes People Happy

Hewlett-Packard also known as HP with its headquarters in Palo Alto, California, SUA announced that they will drop webOS and thus the TouchPad too.

While retailers such as BestBuy put on sale the TouchPad 16Gb for $99 and the 32Gb model for $149, Android developers and fans alike, see in this an opportunity to get a their hands-on a dual-core slate for a price equal with a low-end Android-based tablet.

Word already spread across developing forums and people are requesting a Android operating system portation.

Imagine what a bargain this would be if someone will succesfuly port Android OS on a webOS-based slate, and even if this wont happend (which i doubt it with all the fuzz), still this will remain a bargain. From the looks of it and all the gossip running around on development based forums and social networks like Twitter, Facebook or Google+, all points in one single direction, and that is, a AOSP to the Hewlett-Packard Touchpad in the coming months.

If retailers keep this offer standing for the next couple of weeks and people will continue dash over to get it, I’ll venture to make a small prediction, by Christmas holidays an Android portation is likely to arrive (Gingerbread, Honeycomb or even both).
