Im writing this editorial, because i had to face some problems with my local carrier regarding the 3G data plan (i dont have a unlimited plan).
They offer some sort of free Mb/day of internet access from pre-paid sim cards and when this limit is reached, they do not notify the customer, so if you have credit on your pre-pay, they will let you surf until you are out of cash$ (which i find it almost s imilar to a theft, what if you dont want to surf when the limited data plan is over)?
Anyways my point is this, if you’re only way to surf the web on your mobile device is through a 3G connection, make sure you install an application which allows you to monitor your data, so you wont lose money (trust me they dont care, they just want your money).
Here is a list of a few applications with which you can monitor your mobile traffic:
Data traffic monitor with integrated speed test and task manager. The RadioOpt Traffic Monitor measures data traffic consumed by your wifi and cellular interface.
3G Watchdog data counter monitors your Mobile Internet (3G/Edge/GPRS) data usage, shows a status icon (green/orange/red) in the notif bar and a detailed report page. Widget (2 sizes).
Simple and Statistical precision. Support a variety of Android mobile devices. 2G/3G and Wi-Fi network data traffic monitoring capabilities. Network data traffic to warn function. Real time monitoring of network data charts and summary.
NetCounter is a simple network traffic counter for EDGE/3G and Wi-Fi. It shows your data usage. Data are persistent and you can set the counters (monthly, last 7 days, today, etc) you need.
Similar to 3G Watchdog and Netcounter.Monitor your phone call, text and network data usage. Beautiful UI interface. Alerts when you break your usage limits. Widgets for calls, texts and data. (Pro version only)
If you know any other app that is worth mentioning about please to comment on this article and let the community find out about it.
