LG Thrill 4G a.k.a. LG Optimus 3D – Review

The fever that has gripped everyone these days is the 3D, then how come our Smartphone’s restrain themselves from the epidemic. And to satisfy the need of the 3D Smartphone LG has come up with a 3D, 4G Android power smartphone LG THRILL 4G. Let us see if it can thrill us or just a drop of water in a lake.

THRILL is 4.3 inch smartphone which doesn’t requires a 3D glasses to view 3D content.  The dimensions of the phone are 128.8 x 68 x 11.9 mm.  Being a new phone in its kind it weighs mere 168 grams with battery inserted.  The screen is  3D LCD capacitive touchscreen having 16M colors and having resolution of  480 x 800 pixels which is a bright and crisp enough for daytime viewing in the sunlight. On the side it has volume key and a 3D key. 3D key when pressed converts all the content viewing to 3D. For this beauty hats off to LG.

In the name of hardware LG Thrill has a powerful Dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor. For showing the 3D content it has PowerVR SGX540 GPU and advanced TI OMAP4430 chipset.  It also has a 512mb of Ram which is quiet low for these smartphone while we expected RAM memory at least  1GB. It has 8GB of internal memory which could be expanded up to 32GB with the help of microsd card.  From the point of view of hard ware it is one of the most powerful  smartphones.

Let us talk about the camera, LG Thrill has a Dual 5MP autofocus camera for 3D image and 3D video recording.  The 3D photos are bright clear and separate. When we view these photos on 3D TV the images are well spaced and specified. The largest resolution of 2d Image is 2560х1920 pixels.

The flash of the camera is very powerful for the low light photo experiences.  The one thing that amazed us that it records 1080p full HD 2D video at 24fps and 720p HD 3D video at 30fps. After seeing this we find that 3D is the future for all smartphones. It also has a front camera for video calling.

Talking about the multimedia, the THRILL has a great sound clarity and the video playback is also awesome. Being an Android ,LG THRILL has support for the following video (H.263, H.264, MPEG4, VP8), and audio (AAC, AAC+,AMR NB, AMRWB, MP3,XMF) formats. EVEN it plays 3D video and full HD 1080p video seamlessly.  Thumbs up for the sound and video clarity. The android music and video player is awesome. Having a 1Ghz processor the web experience is awesome, it also supports Adobe flash  10.1 ,this means the flash video runs like a  “hot knife butter“.

Although being a new technology 3D it doesn’t disappoints in gaming and app experience. The phone supports 3D gaming. The LG app store has some great 3D games. The HD Games like NOVA, Asphalt, GUN BROS runs without a lag. The 3D could also convert the boring 2D game into 3D. Now that’s exciting playing 2D games and videos in 3D. The phone got a great potential which is well used by the software.

It runs on ANDROID 2.2 froyo but the operator says it would be upgradeable to 2.3 gingerbread.  It also got a  new touch wiz like Launcher which is also awesome.  The phone’s also got great quadrant score, which are a bit less than SAMSUNG GALAXY S2. BUT then also its a 3D phone.
