Sharp is looking to take a stand on the 5-inch mobile market where Samsung Electronics is “King of the Hill” with its GALAXY Note (lets not forget there is a second generation Note coming soon too), LG follows up with its Optimus VU, Pantech is the third South Korean manufacturer here with a 5 inch device, Panasonic is fighting on this scene as well with its Eluga Power and there a few other OEMs trying to take a bite.

Last week Sharp has announced its very first 5″ SH530U Android smartphone rocking a MediaTek MT6577 dual-core processor clocked at 1Ghz frequency, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of ROM,  16GB built-in memory storage, there is also a 5 megapixel camera on the rear and 3 megapixel front-facing camera (a premiere in the Android world, I dont recall any device sporting 3MP camera for video chat).

The phone is available on Asian markets for $395 USD.
