wpid Google Nexus 7 Tablet by Asus First Nexus 7 tablet image leaks prior to Google I/O 2012

Like most of you Android users out there, I am also eager to find out what Google is about to unveil in a couple of days at the annual Google I/O 2012, first because for the last 6 months we keep hearing rumors about a potential Google Nexus tablet manufactured by Asus and secondly because the rumors point to a new version of Android OS – Jelly Bean 4.1 revealed a few days ago in a Play Store leak.

Folks at Gizmodo Australia received not only the first image showing how the Nexus 7 tablet will look like but its hardware specifications as well.

According to our source the tablet built by Asus will be marketed under Google Nexus 7 name and it will be the first device to run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. Powered by Nvidia’s 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 CPU,  comes with a Ge-Force 12-core GPU and 1GB of RAM. Additionally the Nexus 7 tablet is equipped with an IPS touch screen with 1280 x 800 p resolution, a 178-degree viewing angle,  1.2MP camera in front,  NFC enabled, Google Wallet, Android Beam. The battery promises up to 9 hours of normal usage,  while the screen has a higher resolution and 10-point touch capability in comparison to the 7-inch Kindle Fire.

Google Nexus 7 will be available in two different memory storage models: 8GB which will cost $199 USD and 16GB which will have a price of $249 USD.

1 whole gig om RAM? wow guys. just…wow.

RAM is for multi-tasking so 1 GB is fine considering the price of the tablet will be $199. $199 for 1.3 Ghz quad-core Tegra 3 processor and 1 GB of RAM with NFC is a steal. You should be rejoicing. iPad 2 has worse specs than this and costs $599
