Last year, we saw an inexpensive kids tablet called Nabi, which wasn’t really that great. It featured a 533MHz dual-core CPU and a 7 inch screen of WVGA resolution. It was sold for $200. Now, for the same amount money, you can get its successor – the Nabi 2, which is also a kid-centric tablet. Oh, and by the way, and it puts its predecessor to shame. It features a 1,3GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 1GB RAM, 7 inch touchscreen with resolution of 1024×600 pixels, and a rugged rubbery casing suitable for kids.
This tablet runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and has two modes: kids mode and parents mode. The kids mode offers a kid-friendly user interface, that consists of big tiles to help the kids use the maximum of their tablet. The parents mode disables the kids interface and enables you to use the device as a full-blown tablet. Sadly, the Google Play Store, nor any other Google app is found on the tablet, but you can easily side-load the Amazon AppStore, which also offers good amount of apps.
