A week ago LG Electronics announced that it will be releasing a water-resistant follow-up of the 2012 Optimus G flagship in Taiwan under the name LG Optimus GJ.

Today, the LG Optimus GJ (LG-E795w) went official in Taiwan in a wet t-shirts pool party event, where several gorgeous Asian models literally sinked the new Optimus GJ underwater.

LG-E795w goes on sale in the country for $7,990 Taiwan dollaers (around $600 USD).

About four days ago an unreleased LG smartphone made it in the headlines of all major tech websites revealing a rather interesting new design with an ultra-thin bezel, which according to many it could be the LG Optimus G2.

LG Mobile already launched the LG Optimus G Pro, an upgraded variant of the first generation Optimus G series flagship phone earlier this year, and it looks like the Korean OEM is not stopping here.

Today, the whole tech media received invites to an LG Optimus G event as the outlined G on the invitation clearly points it out, scheduled for May 30 in Macau. The image on the invite also reveals an ultra-thin LG phone which leaks out vivid colors forming a butterfly (probably hinting at a Full HD device with a high-density pixels or whatever).

Whether this is the event where the LG Optimus G2 will be unveiled or some other device, be sure that Pocketdroid will cover it for you.

Samsung Electronics has officially launched the Samsung Galaxy S4 in Dubai yesterday at an event where the President of Samsung Gulf Electronics, Mr. Young Soo Kim unveiled a rather interesting aspect about the Galaxy S4.

A ruggedized version of the flagship smartphone is apparently schedule for release in the coming months. Mr. Young Soo Kim also mentioned two of its features: that it will be water-proof and dust-proof.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is available in Dubai at a price point of AED 2599, while the LTE version is yet to come (next couple of weeks).

You’ve likely heard that Google is planning to make a large impact with their upcoming Google I/O 2013 developer event in May, but nobody is really sure of what we’ll be seeing. It’s rumored that Google will be releasing a new LG Nexus 4 (not a 5) with 32GB of storage and full support for 4G LTE. Android Key Lime Pie will be available for the device, which will make an appearance at Google I/O.

The rumour shouldn’t be taken too seriously at this point, but there is a good chance it is accurate. The reason for our doubts is because Google is already prepared to release another actual hardware device that’s completely redesigned. The Nexus 4 was released in October, and the Galaxy Nexus before it had a similar-time frame before hitting Verizon in December 2011.

Rumors about LG Nexus 5 have been reported, while fantasizing about a HTC Nexus 5, with some thoughts toward the Motorola X-Phone. Many reports claim that Motorola’s X-Phone has been delayed and won’t be appearing at Google I/O.

There’s also been conformation about Google’s current LG Nexus 4, as well as the Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor have disabled 4G LTE radios. It’s been hacked to work in Canada and a few select AT&T users. Maybe it’s possible that google has been working with different carriers to enable this in the next generation of Android, and hopefully a CDMA version will also be available. Apparently a 32GB LG Nexus 4 will arrive for Verizon with 4G LTE, running the latest version of Android.

It sounds like Google has some pretty good plans. Whether they’re preparing a 32GB 4G LTE Nexus 4 for Google I/O or updating the current devices to support AT&T and T-Mobile’s LTE networks.

Samsung Electronics has done it again, after launching the Samsung Galaxy S4 in a sublime Broadway-like show in New York, continued the official release with a concert / launch event held in London, and late last week literally landing the flagship phone on a helicopter in Romania, under close surveillance of a couple of 007 secret agents.

South Korean OEM continues to ramp up the hype around its current top smartphone by investing huge amount of money in the marketing of the product.

The LG Optimus G Pro has caused quite a stir in the tech world. What has really got people going is its similarity to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Basically the LG Optimus G Pro was inspired by the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, so it’s not surprising to see it hit the US market, probably hoping to have as much success as the GNote 2, perhaps?

LG is officially holding its “Share the Genius” event in New York city on May 1. It hasn’t been fully announced yet but word is, it probably will be the announcement of the LG Optimus G Pro. Quite the title too (share the genius). Yes the launch event could be of something unrelated, considering LG dabbles in different areas of the electrical appliance world but considering the good reviews its been having, now would be a perfect time to launch it.

The LG Optimus G Pro will have quite the uphill task considering its competitors, HTC are set to launch the HTC ONE on 24th April and the Samsung Galaxy S4 making its debut just a week before May 1 event.

So what specs does this highly touted device carry? The LG Optimus G Pro has quite the spec sheet, impressive in fact, that could actually challenge the Galaxy S4. Its specs are as follows:

1.7 GHz Krait 300

5.5 inch True full HD 1920×1080 IPS display with 401 ppi,16m colours

A 13 mega pixel camera with 1080p HD video

32 GB internal storage

SD card slot for up to 64 GB

A 3140 mAh Li-Po battery

Jelly Bean version of Android

4G LTE

2 GB RAM

Quite the beast yes? It will be interesting to see how it challenges the other heavy weights in the smart phone arena especially the Samsung galaxy note 2 which is several months old. AT & T is rumored to launch the device on may 10. LG previously revealed that the device sold more than half a million units in South Korea.

Facebook Inc has officially unveiled Facebook Home application for a limited number of Android-running devices. The application integrates perfectly with Facebook for Android and Facebook Messenger and has 4 major features: Cover feed, Chat Heads, Notifications and App Launcher.

Cover feed: Glance at your phone for photos and posts from your Facebook News Feed.

Chat heads: Send and receive texts and Facebook messages in one place. Open, close and drag chat heads around your screen to keep chatting while you’re using other apps.

Notifications: See news as it happens with bigger, bolder notifications on your home screen.

App launcher: Get right to your favorite apps and post to Facebook from the same place.

Facebook Home wont be available until April 12, when it will land on Google Play store but only for US users and for a limited number of devices (HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung GALAXY S III and Samsung GALAXY Note II). Also it is not compatible with any version of Android under 4.0.

The other way to enjoy Facebook Home experience is to buy the $99 HTC First smartphone at AT&T, which comes with the eco-system already pre-installed out of the box.

If you missed the live coverage of the event, dont worry about it because we got you covered. Watch it below!

Facebook is finally turning its entire attention towards the Android ecosystem announcing an event which will take place on April 4. We can’t really tell what this event will be about, all we know is what FB tells us to “Come see our new Home on Android.” It could be a new Facebook Android app, one that will change the way Android users interact with the social network, because everyone knows what a wreck current application is. Or it could be company’s first Android smartphone official unveil, or maybe the Free calling service which is already available for iOS users?

What do you think it is?

According to a tweet sent by HTC USA, the latest flagship device will not be available on Verizon’s network. They were trying to encourage people to check out the DROID DNA instead, which in some people opinion is the better of the two. Rumors of the HTC one arriving at Verizon may be false.

HTC USA was implying that Verizon customers should invest elsewhere in the DNA. The HTC One would have had a better chance competing with the Samsung Galaxy S4 in my opinion, yet I feel like the S4 would be the best choice in phones. The HTC One will be available on the following carriers:

Sprint

AT&T

T-Mobile

Both the HTC One and DROID DNA are very similar in specs, as the DNA has a larger screen, but the One is beating the DNA in the following categories:

Storage, with 32/64 GB compared to the inferior 16GB on the DNA

A slightly better processor speed

Better camera hardware

1080p versus a 720p screen

Other than these, the DNA is probably pricing a lot cheaper than both the One and S4, so it opens many door to all different choices to users amongst carriers.

Samsung Electronics seemingly confirms GALAXY S4 launch date by posting Samsung Mobile Unpacked Event official poster on its website. The clues are everywhere in this ad, take number 4 instead of “for” or the phrase “Come and meet the next GALAXY,” which is basically the same phrase Samsung used last year when it announced the GALAXY S3.

So there it is folks, March 14 in New York is the date and place to look for in the next three weeks, because that’s where Samsung plans to unveil the GALAXY S IV.

Samsung’s GALAXY Note series has become such a popular brand in only a couple of years that South Korean manufacture issued several color variants over time. For instance the original GALAXY Note GT-N7000 was sold in over 10 million units in more than 5 colors.

GALAXY Note II is out for almost 6 months now and so far it is available in 4 distinct colours: White, Titanium Grey, Amber Brown and Garnet Red (the last two variants were launched in Q4 of 2012).

Samsung GALAXY Note II Review

Today, a new model has been sort of unveiled by Samsung Taiwan as they published a full photo gallery with the all new, yet unreleased Pink GALAXY Note II GT-N7100. This listing has been made thanks to a dedicated GALAXY Concert where participants who purchase tickets at the event can win one such pink unit or a 10.1 GALAXY Note (04 February – 20 February, 2013).

Hopefully Samsung will launch this Pink variant internationally before Valentines Day.
