First bits of information about Asus working on a new PadFone were revealed in a slide back in May at one of Tawiwan-based manufacturer’s strategic meetings held by the company for its employees. Since then the 3-in-1 device leaked a second time while passing through wireless certification about fifteen days ago as PadFone II and using A86 model number.
Today new details has leaked via AnTuTu benchmark score results which unveils some of PadFone II key components like the CPU clocked at 1.5GHz frequency which makes us belive it is the Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core chipset, sporting 3GB of RAM (likely the worlds first device to feature so much RAM) and running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich in this test, however the OS version could change by the time the device hits the shelves.
Rumors hint to a December announcement of the PadFone 2 and somewhere in early 2013 Q1 release.
Update: According to GL Benchmark results the PadFone 2 will feature Qulacomm’s dual-core 1.5GHz MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 chipset which offers 4G LTE support and Adreno 320 GPU. Likely this will be the version for Asian and US LTE networks. The test results also confirms 1280 x 720 p resolution display and Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
