Google and Asus unveiled the Nexus 7 at the end of the last month, a tablet that runs the latest version of Android  4.1 Jelly Bean. While shipping has begun in the US, most Europeans will have to wait until September as Asus Italy has confirmed not long ago that the 16GB will hit the shelves early that month.

Asus Netherlands confirms Nexus 7 arrival this September as well, but they also revealed interesting bits of information regarding Asus tablet series firmware upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

According to TabletsMagazin[NL], Asus, through one of its officials representatives at a press conference in the Netherlands, told them that not all of their tablets will get a software update to the latest version of Android. The Eee Pad Transformer TF101 and Eee Pad Slider SL101 are unlikely to receive Android 4.1 according to the same source. Its a tough decision and a really bad news for those owning such tablets.

When the software update to Jelly Bean will begin rolling out is unclear at this point, but we are making an optimistic prediction for October (three months from now). We’ve contacted Asus UK for an answer on this matter and we will get back to you as soon as we receive more details.

Update: Asus Germany denies that their colleagues from the Netherlands have made such a statement about TF101/SL101, adding that they only confirmed Android 4.1 upgrade for TF201/TF300/TF700 tablets and that it is just pure speculation. According to their current information TF101 and SL101 users will enjoy Android 4.1 upgrade too. Here’s the whole statement made by Asus Germany on their Facebook page.

“Wir müssen dies klar dementieren. Die Kollegen aus den Niederlanden haben keine Aussage über TF101/SL101 getroffen, sondern lediglich bestätigt, dass die TF201/TF300/TF700 ein Jelly Bean Update bekommen werden. Der Umkehrschluss, dass TF101/SL101 kein JB Update erhalten werden, ist falsch und reine Spekulation. Nach aktuellen Kenntnisstand werden auch Nutzer der älteren TF101/SL101 in den Genuss eines Android 4.1 Updates kommen.”
