Today, in Germany, Huawei held a major event where the Chinese OEM announced a series of new gadgets. The all new Mate 9 with Leica Dual Camera system and hybrid zoom; a more exclusive and limited version of the Mate 9 in partnership with german car maker Porsche dubbed Mate 9 Porsche Design, and the Huawei Fit which is a cheap alternative to smart watches and fitness bracelets.
The standard Huawei Mate 9 feature a 5.9-inch Full HD display, while the Porsche Design model packs a slightly smaller screen at 5.5-inch but with Quad HD (2K) screen resolution and curved edges on the sides. Both sport almost invisible bezels, pack Huawei’s in-house made Kirin 960 octa-core processor, but the RAM and the internal storage differs. On the original Mate 9 you’ll find 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage, while on the more luxurious variant there’s 6GB of RAM and 256 GB of built-in storage.
Software-wise both Mate 9 phablets run Android Nougat with Emotion UI v5.0 on top of it, which is a skinned down user interface (less bloatware / more responsive).
Both pack a 4,000 mAh battery with Super Charge technology for fast charging, dual main camera at the back with 20MP Black and White sensor + 12MP RGB sensor capable of recording 4K videos, while at the front there’s an 8MP camera sensor with f/1.9 aperture for group selfies.
Huawei will sell the original Mate 9 in Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown, Ceramic White and Black colours for 700 euro, while the limited edition Mate 9 Porsche Design will set you back 1,400 Euro and it will only be sold in Graphite Black colour.
