With CES starting today, there are lots of new announcements coming thick and fast from Las Vegas. Acer announced the launch of the Iconia One 8 (B1-850), a family friendly ‘pocket tablet’ which is perfect for children or inexperienced users.
Iconia One 8 (B1-850) launched by Acer at CES 2016:
Acer state that the Iconia One 8 (B1-850) is aimed at families – children in particular – and inexperienced users of digital media.
The tablet has an 8″ HD IPS display with a wide viewing angle so people can sit together round the tablet to watch a film, play games etc. The device runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 and runs a MediaTek Quad-Core processor and comes with 1GB of DDR3L RAM. Storage is set at 16GB, but there’s an expandable slot for SD Cards of up to 128GB. Acer claim the tablet has up to 9 hours of battery life, plenty to keep your little tykes occupied during long car journeys and plenty of time to watch a film (or three).
Child Friendly with Kids Center:
The Acer Iconia One 8 (B1-850) comes with Kids Center pre-installed, an app that allows parents to keep an eye on the content their children can access. The app has games, books, videos and apps pre-selected for the appropriate age of the child. Parents can control what apps the child has access to from the control panel and even control how long the child can use the tablet each day.
Smart tools from Acer:
The Acer Iconia One 8 (B1-850) also comes with several tools from Acer pre-installed, such as EZ Wake-up, which allows you to turn the tablet on with a simple swipe of the screen with a pre-loaded app, EZ Snap, taking screenshots is just a three-finger pinch and System Doctor, an app to manage the memory and battery life of the tablet to keep it at optimal performance.
The Acer Iconia One 8 (B1-850) will launch in America in February at a price of $99.99, whilst in the EU, it will launch this month at a price of €129 (although availability and prices may vary from market to market).
