LG Optimus G Pro E980 receives KitKat

LG Optimus G Pro E980 receives KitKat on AT&T.

Some may never expected this upgrade but here it is. AT&T is pushing out as we speak a software update to LG Optimus G Pro owners which upgrade the device to KitKat. The new build E98020g is about 800MB in size and it available in stages over the air.

In terms of changes, expect that transparent notification bar with White icons, full screen art mode, stronger security, battery life improvements, Google Cloud Printer support and all the other benefits of Android 4.4 KitKat.

If a notification for update hasn’t hit your LG E980 device yet, you can go into Settings > About Phone > Software updates and check if it’s there in the queue for you.

I tried to upgrade my Optimus Pro E980,  I receive message saying my phone is not registered.  This happens on two o my three E980 ATT phones.

Just spoke with AT&T.  According to the representative, LG/AT&T are releasing this update in batches, these ‘batches’ are basically IMEI series.  According to the search of my phones EMEI numbers I shouldn’t expect the update for 2-4 weeks.  So, Kit Kat is coming to the E980 Optimus Pro…but in batches and slowly…..

I get the same error while trying to get update, phone is not registered yet. I know that this is not the case as I registered the phone at lg when I got it. If the update is not available for all imei numbers then dont announce that the update is available! This only frustrates users that have been waiting patiently for this update for eight months! Poor customer service on behalf of both companies!
