In the second press release this week, Archos have informed us of some other new launches they intend to make at CES next week. This time, a pair of Sub-£200 ($329/€240) 4G phones called the Archos Helium 45 and the Archos Helium 50.
Archos Helium 45 4G:
The Archos Helium 45 4G will be one of the first Archos device to enter the 4G market whilst still being affordable. Specifications given in the press release by the French-based company states the phone will have a 4.5″ screen with IPS technology, a blazingly fast Qualcomm 1.4 GHz Quad-Core processor and running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Archos Helium 50 4G:
The Archos Helium 50 4G will be the big brother of the 45 Helium, with a 5″ 1028×720 screen with IPS technology. It will also have a Qualcomm 1.4 GHz Quad-Core processor and run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The main difference between the 45 and 50 Helium will be in minor upgrades. For example, the rear camera of the 45 is 5MP, where as the 50 Helium has an 8MP camera. The screen on 45 Helium isn’t HD, where as on the 50 Helium it will be 720p HD.
Other than these minor differences, both phones are very similar, stat wise. They both use Micro USB 2.0 to charge and connect to computers, Offer Bluetooth 3.0, Have room for a Micro USB card and be unlocked and stock Android (minus maybe some propriety software like other phone developers has done).
The smartphone has revolutionised the way consumers access information, giving them the ability to instantly view, connect and share ideas regardless of location and time,” says Loïc Poirier, CEO of ARCHOS. “The ARCHOS Helium 4G smartphones will once again change consumers’ mindsets by making the best possible technology affordable.
