The announcement of the first CyanogenMod device was critically acclaimed among Android fans avid of open source goodness. Enthusiasts will be happy to know that Oppo and CyanogenMod have announced that the Oppo N1 variant bundled with CyanogenMod will officially ship on Christmas Eve!

What’s even more interesting is that the 5.9-inch device is the first CyanogenMod to successfully pass Google’s compatibility test suite (CTS) – essentially meaning that it’ll be able to run all and access Google Play services & apps out of the box without having to flash the traditional ‘gapps’.

“This has been something a long time in the making, ever since CM 4.0.4.”, according to a CyanogenMod representative on Google Groups.

There are a lot of sleepless nights, and sometimes we disagree on things, but all parts make the whole and this should be seen as an achievement for all involved. We’re not going to stop here though, there is always more we can work on, more devices to bring-up and more features to provide to the community.
There is still no word on how much the CyanogenMod version of the Oppo N1 will cost but the company promises that more CyanogenMod devices are on the way!
