Just before the Sony Xperia Z1 becomes official another press release leak has come handy to finalize the leaks and as it seems this may be the last leak that we may have to share prior to the release in a couple of hours’ time. Though this leak doesn’t leave our eyes wide open, it has some very interesting bits that we actually missed in the previous leaks.
The specs list is as impressive as we would expect a high-range phone would. The Sony Xperia Z1 will be a massive 5-incher 1080 x 1980 pixel resolution TFT display, TRILUMINOS display, X-Reality for mobile and will be water resistant though the actual meter depth is still a mystery for now. The handset will be running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and powered by a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor, Adreno 330 graphics and 16GB internal storage. The battery life is expected to be stable as it comes with a 3000mAh battery capacity expected to last about 9hours running time dictated by the specs range of the Sony Xperia Z1. It comes bagged internally with 2GB of RAM and a microSD card slot with support for cards up to 64GB in size. Other goodies here include IP55 and IP58 certifications to protect against dust and water as well as a variety of colors to include black, white and purple.
One interesting bit about this press leak is that Sony is quoted saying that the Sony Xperia Z1 has the world’s leading camera in a smartphone and this is after they independently carried out the test and confirmed that the image quality is the best so far. We cannot confirm that as yet but one thing is clear, the Nokia Lumia 1020 41MP camera must have been the comparison in this particular “imaging prowess search”. The 20.7MP camera with 8x digital zoom and the technologies behind it may be the reason for this straight talk with rumours pointing towards a 1/2.3-inch 20.7MP Exmor RS CMOS image sensor. This will include Sony’s G Lens (27mm wide angle and bright F2.0 aperture) and “BIONZ for mobile” image processing engine. Sony also talks about a suite of Xperia camera apps that will launch with the device such as the info-eye visual search, AR effect, Timeshift burst and Social live.
The Sony Xperia Z1 is seen as the major competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 going by the specs and the new features that have come with these two new Smartphone devices. And if the general weight is anything to go by the Sony Xperia Z1 will be lighter with about 10grams in comparison to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which may weigh around 183 grams as its competitor Sony Xperia Z1 weighs a comfortable 170 grams.
Sony expects the handset to go on sale globally during September and will therefore roll out to the rest of the world by the end of the month and confirmed by the Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai.
