Samsung is teasing its next generation in-house Exynos SoC, the latter will still carry the ‘Exynos 5 Octa’ moniker and is expected to be an upgrade to the first Exynos 5 Octa announced at CES 2013. This comes just in time for the Galaxy Note III which is just months away!
The South Korean electronics giant didn’t reveal anything about the actual model or any details about clock speeds or the on-die GPU but we’re pretty sure that this new model will run at a higher clock speed, the chip could possibly sport a PowerVR GPU featuring more cores. – It could also be built on a smaller node or use a newer PowerVR Rogue GPU. We naturally expect it to be based on the ARM big.LITTLE architecture.
Samsung will also kick off a contest on Twitter to generate excitement among the users with the hash tag #ExynosEvolved. Fans stand to win devices powered by the new SoC as giveaways!
This ‘evolved’ chip will most likely find its way into some versions of the Galaxy Note III! Samsung will certainly amaze us again with this SoC performance but its power efficiency remains to be seen.
