Sony is reportedly planning to introduce a shrunken down version of the Xperia Z according to the rumor mill called Xperia ZR. The smartphone dubbed ‘Xperia ZR’ codenamed Dogo with the model number C550X will sport a 1.5GHz quad-core SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM. The SoC should either be a Snapdragon S4 Pro or Snapdragon 600 SoC (which is essentially a rebranded S4 Pro).
The handset will carry a 4.6-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels alongside a 13MP Exmor RS camera sensor, 8GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD) and a 2300mAh battery.
The Xperia ZR will reportedly also be IP55/IP58 certified (water resistant up to 1.5 metres of water for 30 minutes.) which is a step higher than the standard IP55/IP57 rating of the Xperia Z. The handset will feature more or less the same type of design dress used by the Xperia ZL but it’ll be slightly thicker & will weigh around 140g.
