The Chinese firm announced the Huawei G510 at MWC 2013 earlier this year. A mid range phone, basically for the average user who just wants to make calls, check email now and then and probably share a few videos on whatsapp or keek. That being said it actually does have quite the “oomff!” you would expect from a higher end device, according to its spec sheet. The Huawei G510 will be on sale from Vodafone UK at 130 pounds, or you could get the device, with monthly plans starting from 15 pounds on contract. The Huawei Ascend G510 isn’t a screamer, considering Samsung just released the Samsung galaxy mega at the same time as well, but is definitely worth a look.
According to Huawei’s UK director of public management James Powell
“For years entry-level smart phones have meant compromise, phones not powerful enough with screens not big enough,to be able to truly deliver on the promise of mobile Internet. The Ascend G510 is the latest in a line of Huawei smart phones to challenge that.”
Huawei has had a great run with cheap phones. The Huawei Ascend G300 being quite the favorite last year, with an amazing price tag of just 100 pounds. Spec wise, the Huawei G510 has this to offer:
- 1.2 GHz Dual core Cortex A9 chip
- PowerVR SGX531 GPU
- 4.5 inches 480×854 (~281 ppi pixel density)
- 512mb RAM
- 4GB internal memory
- Micro SD card slot upto 32GB
- 1,700 mAh battery
- 5 mega pixel camera 2592×1940 pixels, flash,autofocus
- 3 mega pixel front camera
It also has NFC,WIFI capability (awesome huh?). It will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It’s probably worth mentioning that it will be the first device in the UK to run on the new Huawei EMOTION UI. The device will also have DTS surround sound. Did I mention that you can unlock the device with your face? Yes,the front camera lets you do that. The device will be available from April 12 from Vodafone.
