By now everyone is familiar with ARM’s big.LITTLE technology and Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa SoC that will debut with the Samsung Galaxy S IV. Samsung’s engineers must be proud of their work with the processor right? You bet. Hence, they even decided to demonstrate the chipset before its official appearance on a device, so we know what to expect before we encounter one.
The Samsung Exynos 5 Octa chipset was put inside a prototype tablet that was showcased back at MWC 2013, and the guys from Engadget were kind to capture it in a short video.
The performance of the chipset is outstanding, as expected. The shift from A7 to A15 cores and vice versa happens in an instance, the performance is amazing, and best of all, the energy usage stays at minimum. A powerful GPU is also in the play, though we cannot confirm its origin. It’s most probably a PowerVR Series 5 GPU.
