Cheap affordable are almost everywhere, ranging from Android 2.2 powered Chinese tablets from more robust Android 4.0 Allwinner tablets. But so far we’re never really saw any ‘quality hardware’ at such a low price. The Nexus 7 may be classified as cheap but it is substantially priced higher than most low end tablets on the market.
This trend could well change if rumors turn out to be true; Acer is reportedly planning to introduce a MediaTek-powered single core tablet which should clock at 1.2GHz & feature a rather non-standard resolution of 1o24 x 552 pixels, in addition to that it’ll be equipped with a MicroSD card slot unlike the Nexus 7.
FCC filings also indicate some level of cellular connectivity, that could well be 3G or even 4G LTE which is considerably better than anything else in the $99 price range. The tablet known as ‘Acer B1′ could make a surprise appearance during CES2013 along with other rumored tablets.
