A tab that was almost forgotten has now been revived. For myself i could never forget about the Tab as my brother in law had it in my face all the time. It’s been a long wait and many consumers can now go to bed with a smile to their face after playing with their official ICS update to their tablets.

Earlier today a tweet came in from @SamsungMobileSA stating that users can now update their P7500 Tablets. Many users have been anticipating the update for that specific tablet as it has to be the perfect software for the tablet. Obviously the Firmware was called Ice Cream Sandwich for a reason as the software is meant for tablet and Smartphone. The update will give the tablet user a new experience.

The update first rolled out for the S2 and than later was made available for the Galaxy Note 2 and not so long after that it became available for the Tab 10.1(P7500).

Unfortunately at this stage I have no information what will be bundled in the firmware upgrade but I will keep you posted as soon as I’ve done the update.

There are 2 ways of updating the device’s Firmware.

1. The first way of updating the firmware is via OTA(Over The Air), basically what this means is if you are connected through a 3G Network or via WI- Fi. You would have to go to your settings, scroll right down to the bottom and select about device. After you have done that tap on Software update and select update, the device will than check online for n available update. Make sure if you are not doing it via WI – FI that you un check the WI – FI box.

2. the second way of doing is via the Kies application. First the Kies application needs to be downloaded on your computer by following this link. Select mobile phone from the set of drop down options and you will see the software appear on the right hand side. Click on the prefered O.S version that your PC is using and the download will begin. Install it and after the install is complete plug your USB cable into the PC and than into the tablet. Open Kies application and once it has established connection, kies will automatically display a message saying firmware is available. Click on Firmware update and the update will begin.

Note* It is important to make sure your battery is fully charged to avoid the firmware update from being disrupted and also to avoid loss of information before continuing with the whole process backup of information just for safety. You can go to the android play store and use applications such as App backup and restore to backup your applications and Kies can be used to back settings, messages, call logs, Calendars, bookmarks and all your media content.

Happy update everyone :-)
