ZTE was never known as a high-end smartphone manufacturer, nor it intended to be in the past. However, things change, and now that ZTE is one of the leading smartphone OEMs, it wants to have a piece of the high-end market share. There wasn’t a ZTE smartphone which could hold up against the most powerful Android top dogs, like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X, up until now.
Today, ZTE announced the new Nubia line-up of high-end devices, along with the new ZTE Nubia Z5, which should sport a 5 inch display, a quad-core processor, 13MP camera and ‘an Italian design’. The rest of the specs are unknown to us, but from what we have heard up to now, it sounds like it’s going to be a very powerful smartphone.
We still think the new line-up deserves a better name, as we think ‘Nubia’ is a bit awkward-sounding and would not suit a flagship that well. Anyway, we feel that the coming period is getting more and more interesting as days pass, and the OEMs tend to make more and more smartphones, so we will have an interesting winter all in all.
