Sony’s first Xperia-branded Android tablet weighs only 570 grams at its 8.8 mm thickness (that’s 40% slimmer then its previous sibling). The splash-proofed (IPX4) Sony Xperia Tablet S makes its debut in mid-September (September 15th to be exact) on the Japanese market.
In terms of hardware specs Xperia Tablet S is powered by Nvidia Tegra 3 1.4GHz quad core chipset with 1GB of RAM, features a 9.4 inch WXGA display with 1,280 × 800p resolution, 8MP rear-facing camera and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) later upgradable to Android 4.1 version.
Xperia Tablet S will be available to customers in three different storage options:
- 16GB model – SGPT121JP / S – estimated price ¥ 40,000 ($510 USD)
- 32GB model – SGPT122JP / S – estimated price ¥ 48,000 ($612 USD)
- 64GB model – SGPT123JP / S – estimated price ¥ 56,000 ($714 USD)
The Xperia Tablet S will gradually become available on other world-wide markets too.
