We hear the name ‘LG‘ often these days. Yesterday, the Optimus Vu was the star of the show, and today we heard about a mysterious device, codenamed as ‘Optimus G‘.

According to the Korean site Asia Today, it’s a quad-core LTE device (voLTE = voice LTE), sporting a 4.7 inch IPS True HD display, running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with LG’s latest Optimus UI 3.0 on top. The device will have 2GB RAM and 13MP rear-facing camera. We don’t know anything regarding the chipset, but it might well be a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC.

Design-wise, the Optimus G will have a design inspired by the Optimus L family, which we really like. The upcoming flagship device will be available on LG’s domestic market and abroad starting next month. LG Optimus G likely to be unveiled at IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany at the end of the month.

We know nothing regarding the price of the device, but counting it’s a flagship, you better prepare your wallets. The Optimus G is expected to be a hit, especially in the US market, as there are still no quad-core LTE smartphones available. We will keep you informed on this story as soon as we dig more info.

Rumors of multiple manufacturers working on Nexus devices, the current Galaxy S III and upcoming Note 2. It is getting serious out there people. LG is mixed right in there with much of it. The LG Optimus VU just went global, we hear LG has a Nexus device in the works and now we hear about the Optimus G. When will this insanity stop? Never we hope. With IFA right around the corner and Samsung bringing the Note 2, the rest of the big names need to do something to pull some of the light of Samsung for a minute or two. LG just might have something worth taking a look at too. It is being dubbed the LG Optimus G currently, but that will probably change. The device is said to be sporting  4.7-inch IPS True HD Display, a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera Android 4.0 with 4G LTE connectivity in tow. As for the processor, the specific brand wasn’t mentioned. LG has worked with Tegra in the past, but also Qualcomm. Rumor pegs it for the new Qualcomm S4 quad-core chip though. This could be the first quad-core device to land stateside with 4G LTE support. LG did it first with dual-core, too bad the phone that it came with wasn’t all that incredible. Hopefully LG will be showing this monster off at IFA this year. If not, then maybe the ‘G’ in the name is code for Google and this is their Nexus device. Ya, that might be a little far-fetched. Plus they would need Jelly Bean on there to be a contender. So lets leave the discussion up to you guys. Could LG finally have a real winner on their hands? Will anyone take notice after so many past issues? Source: Asia Times via PocketDroid [...]
