You may be familiar with the fact that nearly all of the Xperias released in 2011 have tasted, or are going to taste ICS in the near future. However, the development doesn’t stop there. Our sources speak that Sony is also considering updating, at least some of these devices to Jellybean as well. Here’s what a local spokesman has said about this:
” We are actively investigating Android OS upgrades for all devices, but in the meantime, our Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for Xperia S and 2011 Xperia smartphones continues as planned. “
We are a little bit surprised that Sony has decided to make this move. After all, the 2011 lineup technically belongs to the Sony Ericsson family and Sony would likely want to boost the sales of their current phones. On the other hand, though, it is also a great strategy to get the users on their side and gain some respect among the population. To be honest, OEMs rarely update their older devices to the latest Android OS, so this could be a great move towards success.
