Ice Cream Sandwich starting rolling in Europe, Germany for the GALAXY Note

Users in Germany are reportedly receiving that promised “Premium Suite,” Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware upgrade for the GALAXY Note (GT-N7000).

Software update build IML74K is apparently pushing out in stages over the air (FOTA) as a file which is 318MB in size. The update is also available via Samsung KIES software tool.

It’s about damn time to see ICS rolling out to customers after so many promises and delays over a very long period of time. Funny that Android 4.0 was released last year in November and today only 5% of worldwide handsets have received an official upgrade (and I am guessing that in that 5 percentage those with custom ICS ROMS are also ¬†included which is even more frustrating). ¬†Software updates are a real problem.

The update might be pushing out in out European countries our suggestion is to try checking manually for the upgrade via Settings>About Phone>Check for updates and if you do receive it please get back to us to confirm your location so that everyone else will know. Thanks

A set of instructions on how to upgrade your phablet to the latest version just simply follow the steps shown here for Kies and here for FOTA.

thanks for the tip Bastian!!
