Sony: Android 4.0 upgrade for Xperia 2011 series start in mid-April, Xperia S late in Q2

Sony announced its upgrading schedule to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for Xperia 2011 series  and Xperia 2012.

The first Xperia phones scheduled to receive the upgrade will be the Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray. For all these models, the rollout will begin in mid-April and will continue over the following 4 to 6 weeks.

While Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman part of the same 2011 Xperia series will receive their ICS starting from the end of May or early June.

Sony says the upgrades will only be available for download via PC Companion and Bridge for Mac (not over the air via 3G or WiFi), and you also won’t receive any update notifications. Finally Sony Xperia S owners, will see an upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS OS starting from the later part of the Q2.
