Asus announces Transformer Pad series & the Padfone

In a press event held earlier today by Asus in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress, Jonney Shih chariman of the board revealed the revolutionary Padfone and the forthcoming Transformer Pad series.

“The time has finally arrived when every screen in your lives could transcend into a portal with real-time access into your digital world,” said Mr. Shih as he introduced the ASUS PadFone which transforms into a three-in-one combination of a smartphone, a tablet and a notebook when accessorized with the PadFone Station and PadFone Station Dock.

Asus PadFone has 4.3-inch smartphone featuring a Super AMOLED qHD (960x540p) display, powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon S4 dual core processor, an ultra-sharp 8MP camera in the rear capable of 1080p HD playback/recording videos with Fuji image processor wrapped up in a beautiful design. Comes in three different versions 16/32/64 GB built-in storage with the possibility to expand it to another 32GB via a microSD slot, HSPA+ up to 5.76 Mbps upload and 21Mbps download speeds, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, and 1,520 mAh battery.

Padfone at its 9.2mm thin, weighs in at 129 grams and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system. Because the device is so versatile allows seamless transition between the PadFone and PadFone Station display screens. In addition, the PadFone Station offers an optional keyboard dock that essentially turns the PadFone into a ultraportable computing device. The PadFone also comes with the option of a PadFone Stylus Headset which is a Bluetooth stylus pen that transforms into a headset for picking up calls easily.
