Samsung debuts dual-core GT-I8530 Android projector phone

Samsung Electronics has announced a new gadget today, the projector smartphone that allows users to display and share multimedia content anywhere on a large luminous projector screen dubbed Samsung Beam (GT-I8530).

Samsung Beam’s ultra-bright 15 lumens projector allows users to easily share in crisp clarity images and video files, even in outdoor environments.

GALAXY Beam provides mobile freedom, enabling a unique shared experience around digital content for everyone—anywhere and instantly—from a smartphone as slim and portable as any on the market,” said JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.

“GALAXY Beam is a device borne out of Samsung’s insight and innovation, demonstrating Samsung’s commitment to providing extraordinary experiences for consumers with products that let them express and fulfill themselves.”

The GT-I8530 or Beam is powered by a 1GHz dual-core CPU, has a 4.0-inch TFT WVGA (480x800p) display, 6GB of RAM, 8GB internal memory, a microSD slot (up to 32GB), a 5MP shooter with AF and LED flash capable of playback/recording 720p videos at 30fps, a 1.3MP in front, WiFi, HSPA up to 14Mbps, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, and a 2000 mAh battery.

The phone is 12.5mm thick, weighting in at 145.3 grams powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.
