ZTE Mimosa X the first Nvidia Tegra 2 powered phone with Icera modem technology and Ice Cream Sandwich

Nvidia officially enters Chinese mobile market with the announcement made on Monday morning when the company alongside ZTE vendor announced first Tegra-powered Android smartphone — ZTE Mimosa X with Icera Modem Technology (Nvidia bought Icera in May last year for a colossal sum of $367 million).

ZTE Mimosa X has a 4.3-inch qHD touch screen (960 x 540p resolution), powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core CPU, GeForce GPU, and the NVIDIA Icera 450 HSPA+ modem (supports up to 21Mbps category 14 HSPA+) and it runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. In the rear there is a 5 MP camera while in front a VGA camera, 4GB of built-in storage expandable to 32 GB via a microSD card slot.

“The ZTE Mimosa X is exciting for a few reasons,” said Michael Rayfield, General Manager of the Mobile business at NVIDIA.

..he also added “The Mimosa X marks the first time NVIDIA technology powers all the major processors in a single smartphone, and also the first time a premium mobile computing experience is coming to the mainstream smartphone market.”

The phone will be launched around the second quarter of  2012, somewhere in April – May.
