Sony brings not only the first self-branded Xperia Ion smartphone since the company took over the other %50 from Ericsson back in 2011, but a SmartWatch to your wrist also running Android operating system.
SmartWatch runs on Google’s Android OS and optimized for Sony Xperia series. The watch weighs 15.5 grams main unit, 26 grams for the watchband and measures 36 mm x 36 mm, thickness: 8 mm. Equipped with Bluetooth 3.0 technology it has a range of up to 10 meters before losing signal.
SmartWatch is capable to read sms, calendar reminders, emails, it can display Twittter tweets, Facebook content and you can reject and mute calls, pre-defined sms, take call and use the headset. Another great feature is the LifeView clip with which you can clip the watch OLED display (main unit without its wristband) on your t-shirt, belt, jacket or your notepad. The wristband is available in the following colors: pink, mint, blue, white, grey and black. The watch also displays the weather, you are able to listen to music and see track information on the screen while playing it.
Worried about power consumption? SmartWatch has 1 week of battery at a low usage, typical usage lasts 3-4 days, heavy usage 1 full day (over 12 hours).
Sony will make this available by the end of the first quarter for a price of $150. Whats nice is that the SmartWatch will also pair with non-Sony devices.
